Safe Slumber: Creating A Safe Sleep Environment

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death for infants 1 month to 12 months of age. The Safe Slumber presentation defines Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), identifies how to create a safe sleep environment, and familiarizes educators, parents and child care providers with SIDS/SUID and what steps can be taken to reduce SIDS and SUID. Participants will discuss definitions and statistics of SIDS/SUID and address bereavement issues related to infant mortality.

- Saturday #1: KickStart 101: Basic Child Development & Supervision (2 hrs), Safe Slumber (2 hrs), Child Abuse Neglect & Head Trauma (2 hrs), Keeping Children Safe: Environment & Transportation Safety= Total of 8 in-service hours
- Saturday #2: KickStart 102: Emergency Preparedness (2 hrs); Healthy Environments: Disease Prevention & Control (2 Hours); Medication Administration (2 Hours); Happy Meals: Safe Food Practices and Allergy Awareness (2 Hours) = Total of 8 in-service hours
Non-Members: $75 per KickStart – Includes Lunch , Members: $45 per KickStart – Includes Lunch. If you plan to attend all four of either KickStart, Please use the KickStart event to register instead of registering for all four separately to receive your discounted rate.
