  • Life Insurance and Long Term Disability: Child Start pays the entire cost of a term life insurance policy. Benefit is two times your annual salary.
  • Supplemental Insurance Coverage: Offered through AFLAC.
  • Retirement Plan: Each employee can contribute to Child Start’s 403(b) Retirement Plan. After one year of employment, Child Start will match your contribution dollar for dollar (up to 4% of your salary).
  • Vacation and Sick Leave: Full-time employees earn 10 days vacation per year and 1 sick day per month. Staff who work less than 40hrs/wk earn vacation leave on a pro-rated basis.
  • Holidays: Child Start offers 8 paid holidays each year, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day with Friday after and Christmas Day.
  • Mental Health Benefit: Child Start contracts with EMPAC to provide a comprehensive program designed to assist in the early identification and resolution of productivity problems associated with employees who are impaired or likely to be impaired by behavioral problems. These include, but are not limited to: health, marital, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, emotional, stress, or other behavioral problems which may adversely affect employee job performance.

Wellness Program

Wellness Paid Time Off

Employees who choose to participate in the Child Start Wellness Program will complete 30 minutes of physical activity AND participate in at least two other qualified activities five times per week

For each month that staff document completion of their wellness activities, they receive a Wellness Certificate that allows them to exchange 2 ‘sick pay hours’ for 2 ‘wellness hours’.

On-Site Gym

Staff have access to Child Start’s on-site fitness center five days per week.

Discounted Gym Membership

Employees receive a discounted monthly gym membership at Wichita YMCA. The discount can be applied to individual or family memberships.

Employee Assistance Program

Child Start contracts with EMPAC to provide a comprehensive program designed to assist employees in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Annual Open Enrollment & Health Fair

Child Start hosts an annual health fair in conjunction with spring Open Enrollment for health benefits. If you are interested in participating as a vendor, contact us.

Bi-Lingual Compensation

Child Start offers bilingual compensation to part-time and full-time employees who use or are capable of using two languages with equal or near equal facility.  Bilingual staff will receive compensation up to 5% above base salary.

Those employees who speak a second language fluently, who are capable of reading and interpreting Braille or who are proficient in using sign language will be granted an increase of 2.5% in compensation.

Those employees who speak, read and write a second language fluently will be granted an increase of 5% in compensation.

Student Loan Forgiveness

Child Start is recognized as a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore we meet criteria specified by the United States Department of Education that allow our staff to qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, employees working 30 hours or more per week in the public service or non-profit sector can have the remainder of their outstanding debt forgiven after they have successfully made 120 qualified loan payments.
