Shannon Benoit is a dedicated educational leader with over thirty years of experience in various roles within the Wichita Public Schools system. Her career spans positions such as Executive Director of Elementary Schools, principal, Intensive Support Specialist, Early Childhood Teaching Specialist, MTSS Instructional Coach, and primary teacher. Throughout her tenure, Shannon has remained steadfast in her commitment to improving low-performing schools and empowering staff, always prioritizing the principle of placing “Kids At The Heart” of her decisions.
In her current role as Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Shannon oversees all Early Childhood programs and Parents as Teachers across Wichita Public Schools. She plays a crucial role in managing instructional practices, guiding program development, and fostering professional growth among educators. Her efforts are pivotal in strengthening school and community relations.
Shannon’s expertise encompasses instructional management, program development, and professional development, with a notable track record in building capacity and driving educational improvement. Her specialized knowledge includes early childhood education, reading specialization, and ESOL.
In addition to her role within Wichita Public Schools, Shannon has contributed to the field as an adjunct instructor at Friends University, WSU, and Newman University, highlighting her deep commitment to educational excellence. As a proud graduate of Wichita South High School and a lifelong member of the Wichita Public School system, Shannon is devoted to advancing educational growth within her community with a true Heart for Kids!
