Teresa Houston is a dedicated professional in early childhood education with a profound commitment to supporting children and advocating for individuals with visual impairments. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Counseling with an emphasis on substance abuse and childhood development from Newman University and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University. Teresa has been an integral part of Envision since the Cathy G. Hudson Envision Child Development Center opened in July 2010, following her previous role at Shirley Mayes Head Start.
In her role on the board, Teresa serves as the Early Childhood Advisor and is actively involved with the Early Childhood Recommendations Panel and the Kansas Child Nutrition & Wellness Advisory Council. Her expertise in advocating for the employment of individuals who are blind or visually impaired and ensuring access to early education for all children is a cornerstone of her work.
Teresa’s community involvement extends to her work with the National Industries for the Blind, where she frequently travels to Capitol Hill to advocate for policies supporting the blind and visually impaired community. She also contributes to the Diversity Equity Inclusion Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Diversity Equity Inclusion Committee for the Wichita Business Journal.
Outside of her professional life, Teresa is married and the mother of twins, balancing her career with her family life.
