Dottie Bishop was a longtime employee of Child Start and before retiring she worked in the areas of special education and early literacy. Dottie had a heart for all children, but her true passion was children with special needs. She was devoted to making sure their needs were met and their families received the necessary education and support to advocate for their children long after they left the Head Start 0-5 program. Ms. Bishop passed away in 2013 and her family started a memorial as a tribute to Dottie’s lifelong service.

With the memorial funds, Child Start has established an Early Childhood Educator scholarship in honor of Dottie to assist anyone with a desire to pursue an advanced degree in early care and education.
