When it comes to school readiness there are many definitions used to describe it. Simply, school readiness means equipping children with the appropriate skills, knowledge and experiences that will allow them to become independent learners. Preparing children to be independent learners is also providing them with the tools to become productive members of society. In this training, we will learn about the history behind school readiness, current trends and theories in the school readiness debate. We will discuss what it means to be school ready in a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment.
